Starring: Tim Daly (Wings), Tom Arnold (Roseanne’s ex), Zoe Saldana (The Losers) Edward Herrmann (The Lost Boys), and a few other character actors you’ll recognize if you’ve ever watched TV ever.
Review in a nutshell: I almost liked this one. Mainly because it was not as slow as the others. BUT it erred in the other direction, trying to cram too much in. THEN the ending had to happen and it was like they forgot they needed one. The Story: Arrogant lawyer moves into his aunt’s house after she dies and starts seeing and hearing things. Finds out she left the house to paranormal research and not him. The lawyer is all bent out of shape for 30 seconds and then starts believing in ghosts. Except when he doesn’t. The hot psychic chick shows up and helps him figure out the house is where his mom died, and she’s the ghost. Then the family priest tells the lawyer his mom was an abusive monster. THEN the lawyer’s childhood shrink tells him he kinda sorta killed his mom by leaving toys on the stairs. Then ghost mom scares the lawyer so that he fall down the stairs and she takes him on a picnic as an apology or some shit.
Where I found it: Netflix
How much I paid for it: 89 minutes
Points of interest: When I first saw Edward Herrmman in this I thought “Hey! It’s Herman Munster” and I was only partially right. The ORIGINAL Herman Munster was played by Fred Gwynne. Herrmman only played him once in a TV movie made in the 90’s.
The Money Shot: I really enjoyed the scene where Zoe Saldana as the “high strung” psychic wrecks the lab and bites the scientist on the cheek but Tom Arnold does get a good scare in with a crappy paper mache mask.I think it’s a tie.
