Alternate Title: John Carpenter’s The Ward
IMDB link: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1369706/
Starring: Jared Haris (aka Dr, Moriarty), Meryl Streep’s daughter Mamie, and a bunch of other people who pay the bills making B movies
Review in a nutshell: I needed a break from the crap I’ve been watching and when I saw this was crap made by John Carpenter I knew I was in the right place. A lot of crappy movies lose me because they’re too slow. Carpenter never does this to me. The plot may be convoluted or unoriginal, but shit is going to HAPPEN in one of his crappy movies. (Some of the best movies I’ve ever seen were by this man, and his worst work is better than some of the movies I’ve reviewed so far.) So yeah, we’ve got your typical ghost revenge killer in a mental hospital movie with an overused twist ending. If you want spoilers, scroll down to the related links. Otherwise know that this is fluff horror with a few good edits for jump scares.
Where I found it: Netflix
How much I paid for it: 88 minutes that felt like 30
Points of interest: The story takes place in the mid 60’s which isn’t THAT important to the story, but it makes it more believable if you know anything about psychiatric medicine.
The Money Shot: For me, it wasn’t the scares that got me. It was the orderly taking a flashlight to the nose.
